Westchester County Guide
Drug & Alcohol Detox and Rehab Options in Westchester County
A countywide guide to comparing independent detox and rehab options in Westchester County: levels of care, verification, coverage questions, and travel considerations.

Westchester County has many independent treatment programs, but the right fit depends on the person’s needs, the program’s certified services, current availability, and coverage. Yonk is a non-clinical 24-Hour Treatment Warmline: we help identify treatment programs with current availability and facilitate connections for assessment and admission. Treatment takes place at the independent provider, never at Yonk.
What Yonk does and where treatment happens
Yonk Detox Resource Center does not operate a detox or rehabilitation program, perform clinical assessments, or guarantee beds. The receiving provider assesses each person and makes every admission and clinical decision. Our role is to help you understand options and prepare calls.
Levels of care across Westchester
Treatment programs in the county are described with similar words that can mean different things. Ask each provider which level of care it is certified to offer at the exact location.
- Withdrawal management (detox): short-term monitoring and management of withdrawal, with medical oversight that varies by setting.
- Inpatient or residential treatment: live-in structured treatment after or without a detox stay, depending on clinical need.
- Partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient (PHP/IOP): several hours of treatment on multiple days each week while living at home.
- Outpatient treatment: scheduled individual or group sessions that fit around work, school, or family.
- Medication support: some programs offer medications for alcohol or opioid use disorder when a qualified prescriber decides they are appropriate.

Verifying a Westchester program
New York’s Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) maintains a public provider and program search. Check that the listed program, address, and service type match what the provider describes to you. Westchester County’s Department of Community Mental Health also publishes substance-use resources.
Follow our step-by-step OASAS verification guide before choosing a program.
Insurance and admission questions
Coverage depends on the plan, the exact location, and the service. Ask both the health plan and the program before admission.
- Is this exact location in network for this level of care?
- Is prior authorization required?
- What will I owe out of pocket, and what is not included?
- What does the program need from me to complete its own assessment?
Prepare with the Westchester detox payment and insurance guide, and learn how reported openings differ from confirmed admission. You can also request non-clinical navigation help.
Practical access and travel
Westchester stretches from the Bronx border in the south to Putnam County in the north, so a program that is “in the county” can still mean a long trip. Families often weigh travel time for visits and outpatient sessions, Metro-North or Bee-Line bus access, and whether a program outside the county is reasonable when local openings are limited. These are questions to raise with the provider; we do not decide where anyone should go.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Yonk run a detox or rehab in Westchester County?

How do I check whether a Westchester program is certified?
Search the New York OASAS provider and program directory and confirm that the program, address, and service type match what the provider tells you.
